Retirement Plan Advisors offers a unique value proposition to independent investment professionals. In these times of extremes, RPA creates a comfortable balance between the limitations of the captive agent environment and challenges of working completely independently.

We value diversity in our recruiting efforts, filling open positions with individuals having varied backgrounds and experience levels. RPA has seventeen full-time employees dedicated to supporting the administrative, sales and investment advisory efforts of our investment professionals in twenty states.

Retirement Plan Advisors supports two sales models. Our primary model is group retirement plans, specifically public sector (government and K-12) 457, 403(b) and 401(a) plans.

Group Plan Model

RPA, a federally registered investment advisor, specializes in providing plan design and support, onsite enrollment services, employee financial education and investment advice to public sector employers. Currently servicing nearly 600 retirement plans with over 30,000 participants and $600 million in plan assets, RPA is one of the largest independent providers of public sector retirement plans in the Midwest.

One of the biggest challenges as an independent investment professional is access to qualified prospects. Our model uses the group retirement plan business as a base to establish relationships with literally hundreds of plan participants, many of whom may choose to work with you on related financial services. More importantly, a percentage of those people will retire each year with meaningful assets, creating the opportunity for fee-based wealth management services. In fact, fee-based wealth management services for our public sector client base is, by far, the fastest growing segment of our business.

RPA’s three principals have over sixty-five years of combined experience in the public sector marketplace and work full-time on practice and business development, spending less than 10% of our efforts on individual production. We are uniquely positioned to help you establish a niche in the group retirement plan marketplace. The success of our model speaks for itself; the average RPA representative gross dealer concession (GDC) has nearly doubled in the past four years.

Independent Model

In addition to our group retirement plan model, we also work with established investment professionals looking to transition to the independent broker/dealer model with an emphasis on fee business. Our administrative and sales support structure, on top of the B/D functions from Cambridge Investment Research, Inc., provides valuable time-saving support, allowing you to concentrate on building your practice.
